The Story

Mizutani stands as a remarkable figure in design history—one of the few Japanese students to study at the legendary Bauhaus school, enrolling in the summer of 1927. His collaborative work with Joseph Albers in the sculpture workshop produced pieces that would later appear in major photographic archives of Bauhaus design. Though this dining table remained unproduced during his lifetime, its original wooden model has been documented in prestigious collections of modernist furniture. After returning to Japan, Mizutani became an influential educator at Tokyo College of Fine Arts, shaping generations of architects and artists until his passing in 1969. This piece represents a rare glimpse into the cross-cultural innovation that defined the Bauhaus era.

Manufactured in Italy.
