Eero Saarinen Tulip Table - Oval Dining 28 x 41 Inch

The Saarinen Tulip Table was designed between 1954 and 1957.  The tables were introduced as part of the “Pedestal Series,” along with a range of other furniture pieces, including chairs and stools.  In the design of the series, Saarinen wanted to use a singular material, preferably plastic, for both the bases and tops of the various tables.  At the time, however, technology had not yet been able to produce polymers strong enough to support these tables.  Although it is possible to make tulip tables today, they are still crafted in the same manner as they were initially in the 1950s, using cast aluminum.  Eero Saarinen achieved his goal of eliminating the “slum of legs” through this timeless design.

This Saarinen Tulip Table has a lacquered cast aluminum base in white, black, or silver. The Saarinen Table base is treated with a clear protective finish to resist scratches, stains, and scuffs. Stone tops are protected with a natural wax finish or finished with a protective polyester sheet.
